Man, fuck Torii Hunter!

And I am not taking the game away from the halos, but what was with that officiating? 4th pitch to Youk in the top of the sixth was a foot outside and would have loaded the bases for Papi. Called a strike.

Then the call at first where they said Youk's foot was off the bag. Really? In a DS?

Since Thome got traded to the Dodgers, I think I could deal with them in the Series too.

Yeah me too.

BUT..........now I get to reshuffle my deck. My feelings on their "signature sandwich" aside, I'm thinking of maybe cheering for the Phillies, because their off-white jersies are very nearly a pinkish hue.

The Yankees are baseball 'droids. I find no joy in watching them demolish everyone.

Except Jeter and Posada; I like them.

I think my only complaint with them is that they epitomize what enough money can do in MLB. It's not really a "team", per se, as it is an "All Star Team".

Right now, though, I am finding solace in the rather shallow and overt delusion that they are playing the California Angels, and it will be different when they go up against the Phillies.

Don't argue with me please. I'm sleeping through the night recently, and I need the rest. Burying me in absolute facts, undeniable statistics and repeated historical events for the past 150 years will destroy the feeble world I have constructed around myself, and you'll shoulder the blame for my actions. I'll paint your name on my arsenal of Super Soakers right before I walk into the mall wearing camo, a Bostan Red Sox baseball cap and a KISS face paint job.

I do have a short list of questions, though, that I probably need to ask you baseball-ophiles;

1. What is it that Swisher looks up at every time he bats right after he gets set?
2. Is there any point at all to every pitcher wearing what looks like a piece of rope from the community swimming pool deep end bouy line around their necks? I swear I saw one guy wearing what had to be a sweet tart candy necklace. And how come they don't get rid of them when they lose? That one around Becket's neck has GOT to smell like dead wet dog by now.
3. The tar rosin shit on the bats..........how come people like Victorino don't use surf wax? Wouldn't it work just as good?
4. How come they don't wash their batting helmets off after they lose?
5. Why in the phuc do they smell their bats after they hit a foul ball?
6. Okay...........leotard socks tucked in, or too long pants?
7. The Japanese guys don't use tar on their bats. Matsui's looks like a bleached bone it's so clean. Just an observation; no question.
8. How come the people in the stands don't have those long plastic horns like you see in Japanese baseball games? Is there a rule that says you can have plastic tubes to clap with, but no horns, or what?
9. Why do they hold a batting glove in each hand when they are on base?
10. Is it just too hard for those millionaires to use a trashcan in the dugout? I'd think all that shit on nthe floor would be a tripping hazard. They won't let pitchers shag fly balls because they are afraid they'll hurt their widdle arms, but they make 'em walk in spikes on wet concrete with those wax coated cups everywhere?

I got an answer/commet for a couple of those:

2) Pitchers can't wear jewelry as it might distract the batter, so I think many of them turn to those necklaces.

5) They are probably trying to see if they can smell the wood burning. Boggs and Williams used to say in BP they could smell their bats burning.

7) Most Japanese players also wear batting gloves so they don't need the pine tar to keep a grip on their bats.

9) They do that so they have something in their hands so they keep them up when they slide. The idea is having something in their hands will instinctively force them to keep the hands up if they slide feet first or keep the fingers closed if sliding headfirst. In reality they will slide however they want in the heat of the moment, but that is the idea of it.

I want to say it has something to do with his grandparents, or grandfather and honoring/remembering them.

As for all the Yankee haters, hate on. God forbid a billionaire owner spend his money like he sees fit (I guess it's his sons now...). Compare that with Carl Pohlad, who barely spent anything on the Twins. Which would you rather have run your team?
Also, it's pretty much proven that salary caps do nothing to stop dynasty's - look at the Lakers, the Red Wings, the Patriots/Steelers.

Wah wah wah, whine whine whine...

Clearly, the yankees dynasty was in the late 90s.

You'd have to be...well, a recipient of several 2x4's to the head to think that I'm calling the current Yankees a dynasty.

As far as complaining about how bad the Yankees are for baseball, blah blah blah, it doesn't bother me, it's just painfully redundant.

I dislike the Yankees, but do respect Steinbrenner's willingness to put a quality product on the field. There are a lot of owners that take their market share and pocket it and refuse to put money into their rosters. It is just very difficult for a team like the Rays to compete with them year in and year out. Our ownership made the statement they would be happy being in the race 5 out of 10 years, I don't think Steinbrenner would be happy if they made the playoffs 9 out of 10 years.
